Well, it seems I have some catching up to do again. I was way too caught up in all the holiday craziness to keep up!! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! I’m looking forward to 2013, my attitude is positive, my hopes are high… we’ll see how that works out for me. In the meantime, here’s a recap of what’s been going on this cycle:
12/17 – started period
12/19 – went in for baseline ultrasound, got the clear to start next round
12/21 – started Follistim injections at 50 iu (well actually I did slightly more than 50)
12/25 – finally told my parents what’s going on (more on that later)
12/26 – went in for ultrasound and blood work. Nothing measurable yet, but my estrogen was at 112, which they felt meant the follicles were getting ready to do something. They kept me at 50 iu, but I took it upon myself to slightly increase the dosage again. Ha.
12/28 – ultrasound and blood work, 12mm follicle on the left and a 10 on the right, however estrogen was at 93. I was very upset about the fact that it went down, but the nurse told me it’s really basically the same thing as 112, they upped my dose to 75 iu to try to jumpstart my estrogen. Since I was already almost at 75 by my own self medicating, we then went 1 click past 75. Since they were closed on New Year’s Eve and day, they scheduled me to come back in on Sunday before the holidays.
12/30 – first, it was very odd visiting the office on a Sunday, the place was empty, the office was dark, it was weird. The 12mm on the left was now at 17mm, woo! But the one on the right hadn’t grown. Boo. I got a call from one of the doctors (not my own) that afternoon saying that my estrogen was 358 (yay!) and I could trigger that night. So we did and since then we’ve been doing our thing.
1/1 – when we finally returned home after being out at my parents for the better part of a week and a half, I thought to myself, today is the day I’m supposedly ovulating… and I’m pretty sure I still have some sticks left from an OPK my doctor made me buy months ago… So I found them and did the test and my day was made, it’s the first time I’ve ever gotten a positive result on any at home test I’ve taken. Now, I admit, I’ve only done the OPK a few cycles, but still, this is the first time I’ve ever gotten a positive. I was so excited I had to take a picture haha.
1/2 – started the progesterone suppositories
And now we wait…
Here’s hoping and praying I get another smiley face (or the equivalent) on the next test I take.
